DETOX {Day 6}

First day at work, done!  (and not too bad).  Census is down at the hospital — in fact, ICU was closed due to lack of patients (that RARELY happens).  I think the only thing that bothered me was my left ankle (even though my plantar fasciitis has not healed completely, now I feel like my foot pain is being made worse with some ankle pain that I think may be from how I’m compensating my walking????  SO FRUSTRATING)  Okay, now that I’ve vented on that, moving on!

I tried a new smoothie recipe yesterday and it was GOOD.  Kimm calls it the “black smoothie of death” because of the (awful!) color…it really is almost black…but it tastes SO GOOD!

Chocolate Cherry Smoothie ~~ 1 1/2 frozen bananas, 1/2 cup frozen cherries, tablespoon pure cocoa, 2 handfuls spinach, 1 cup-ish of unsweetened soy milk

My eats at work:

12 am — 1/2 my smoothie

4:15 am — second 1/2 of my smoothie, 1/4 cup of almonds

7:15 am — a carrot with some hummus, 1/4 cup cashews

Drive home — apple


We had our leftover stuffed peppers tonight and poor Kimm…she really just choked hers down!  She really doesn’t like the taste of the filling.  I honestly thought it was not all that bad.  But we are going to re-vamp the recipe and make a more savory, less tomato-y filling…I’m thinking shredded veggie burgers, sautéed mushrooms/onions, brown rice, egg as binder ???  (of course this will all be after the detox when I’ve added back in eggs and gluten!)

After dinner consisted of FINALLY going through our mail holder by the entry way (SO FULL it was overflowing).  I definitely have a lot of filing to do on my next day off…joy.

A quick shower and some computer time and now we are about ready for our snack and an episode of The Fosters.  Of course we’re having popcorn!
