I love to read so I enjoyed this weeks questions ūüôā

To participate…answer these questions and then post your responses on Kenlie’s blog, All The Weigh.

How often do you read for pleasure?

I TRY to read every night before bed, but lately just on my iPhone. ¬†But on my days off I generally try to read a bit as well…but my intentions are better than my results. ¬†I need to carve out more time for JUST reading since I like it so much!

Are you currently reading a book?  If so, which one?

Yes, I’m reading A Thread of Truth by Marie Bostwick. ¬†It’s book two of a quilting series. ¬†I don’t quilt, but I have read all of Jennifer Chiaverini’s quilt series books and then Kimm’s mom tipped me off to this author who also writes a quilt series. ¬†I’ve read this book before, this is the second time. ¬†I’m definitely one of those people who likes to read a favorite again!

Do you subscribe to any magazines and/or newspapers?

Yes, I receive Better Homes and Gardens and Critical Care Nursing (for being a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses). ¬†But my favorite magazine to read is WAY too expensive to purchase…People. ¬†I usually just read it when I go to the bookstore, or really quickly scan it when I’m in line at the grocery store!

Do you prefer reading traditional books or using an e-reader?

REAL books all the way!  There is NOTHING like the feel of a book in your hands and I love the different jacket covers, fonts, paper types.  Using a bookmark.  The smell of a new book.  How pages wear over time in a favorite book.

How often do you go to the bookstore?

Generally once a month. Barnes and Noble. ¬†Wander for a good hour or so, picking out books I’d like to read. ¬†Take them down to the cafe and browse through them while splurging on a Frappacino ūüôā ¬†Then I usually take pictures on my iPhone of all the books I want to read and request them from my local library! ¬†If I really love them after that, I’ll put them on my “to buy” list.

Do you read at the gym?

Nope. ¬†Can’t do it. ¬†Being at the gym means working hard for a short, designated amount of time and I can’t do that while reading a book. ¬†Not to mention I love reading, don’t love going to the gym so much, so I NEVER want to taint something I love with something I don’t really love!

Have you ever been a member of a book club?

Yes, way back when. ¬†But I never really felt like I BELONGED to those people. ¬†If that makes sense. ¬†I didn’t feel like those people knew me or cared about me so it was kind of awkward. ¬†I had joined through an old job. ¬†It eventually fell apart. ¬†But I would LOVE to be part of a book club again. ¬†But know of none and the friends I have now are too busy for a book club ūüė¶

Do you wear glasses when you read?

Yep. ¬†I’ve worn them since 4th grade! ¬†Can’t see without them!!

Have you read the Hunger Games?  And would you recommend it?

Yes, I did read the Hunger Games last year and absolutely loved it. ¬†It was a definite page turner. ¬†It had a unique storyline and compelling characters. ¬†You WANTED to know what would happen. ¬†Unfortunately I can’t say I felt the same love for the remaining two books of the trilogy…I thought the second book, Catching Fire, was okay and the third, Mockingjay, I could hardly get through but did just to find out what happened. ¬†I think it got a little too complicated and strange towards the end. ¬†But I still want to read the entire trilogy again to see if I feel the same way now, over a year later. ¬†I DO want to see the Hunger Games movie that is coming out.

What is your favorite thing about reading?

The feeling that you can escape your own life for a little bit.  You can be the character you are reading about.  You can visit new places through words.  You can learn new things.  But I also really love the sense of familiarity with characters that you have re-read their stories so many times that they feel like family.

I’ve had some wonderful days off and today it is back to work. ¬†It’s going to be a gorgeous week, temps in the 60s, near 70s all week! ¬†The crocuses are popping up!!

I’m going to see if I have the determination to get to the gym this afternoon!!!

But I am definitely going to try to fit some reading in today ūüôā

Here’s hoping for a great week for everyone!
