The only good thing…

…about working last night is that I was able to get a foley (urinary catheter) in a female on the FIRST try (while there were two doctors in the room!)

The rest of the night was a bust.  I was all set to go to IMC at 11 pm when there was a CERT call and a patient taking a turn for the worse who was transferred to ICU.  And then it was my patient.  And she was complicated and complex.

Intubated, central line, 6 units of blood, chest tube, low body temp, low bp, low heart rate.  You name it, she was throwing her ball in the park!

Anyways, I just hate how nursing (and doctors) can really suck the life out of you.  You try not to let it happen, and yet it STILL does.  SO frustrating.

I’m going to try to just let it go, but I just feel so incompetent sometimes.

Ugh.

To bed so I can hopefully sleep and do it all over again tomorrow.

I don’t think I can do this job when I’m 55!!!  Help.
