Learning by immersion

Well, last night was just as busy, if not busier than the night before.

In fact I got to assist with my first intubation.  My part–giving the sedation/paralytic medications.  It was fairly stressful.  Mostly because it’s pulling up from the Pyxis (machine that stores the medications), and drawing up with needles the medications–and all that takes time.  When of course the doctor wants the med given STAT.  I think the more you do it, the easier it becomes.  But for now, I’m slow.  Which is extremely frustrating for me.  But I am glad I had the experience.  Hopefully it will happen again soon so that I don’t lose what I learned from lack of practice.  I wish I could have seen more of this during my orientation–now that would have been better than just being thrown into it.

Anyways, I was there late again…didn’t leave until about 9 am.  Got home and shoveled the 1 inch of snow we got.  Then bed at 10:30.

So not too much accomplished today.  Mostly relaxing 🙂  Nice to be home.

Only two more days on and then my birthday weekend!!
