As you know, I was feeling a bit stressed out regarding the new work situation.

But today was better 🙂

I have made peace with everything and have a plan in place for tomorrow.  So I will approach tomorrow with a fresh mindset and see what happens.

Meanwhile, today was nice!

We did a “quick clean” of the house–tackled everything and finished in a little over an hour.  Had friends over for dinner and to see the house for the first time.  It was a great visit.

And now just finishing the evening relaxing.

There’s nothing like a good day to make you feel better about everything else that seems so horrible.

Family Time

Saturday, October 16, 2010

I love my time at home.

When I can get up, take a walk with Izzy and Kimm and then relax and sip my coffee.

When I can take a nap on the couch.

When I can catch up on blogs and Facebook.

When we can watch a few episodes of ER.

When I don’t have to rush off to get ready for work when I’m done eating.

When I can just relax.

Two Down

*postdated for Friday, October 15, 2010

Two days of ICU training down.

I can’t say they’ve been that great.

All I have to say is…if you are going to train someone for a more specialized unit, there should be clear learning objectives that are met, even if patients that meet those criteria are not available at the time of your training (can you see where I’m going with this???…basically we’re taking it on a patient-by-patient case and while that may be fine and dandy for some, this is not the correct way to orient someone for a critical care unit when that person is going to ultimately be responsible for a whole different array of ill people).

Okay.  Deep breath Kaye.

I’ve had more than my share of tears in the past two days.

But I went out for a drink with a friend last night after work to vent and I talked to my mom today…and of course Kimm listens to me more than she probably cares too 🙂

But now I have a plan…I will email/speak to the unit manager and ask for a clear set of learning objectives so that I can make sure that I feel prepared once I am off training.

Okay.  So hopefully that will help me from feeling so terrified of taking this new position!

On a different note…can you believe that it is the middle of October already??  Where is the time going?
