What Gym Trial?

Saturday, May 8, 2010

After getting home late last night we slept in pretty late this morning.  I think we finally crawled out of bed at about 10:30 am.  But it was not a very restful sleep for either of us.  I know that I was stuffed up and could NOT breath.  Eventually I had to cave and use the Vick’s Nasal Spray.  Gave pretty much instant relief, but then my nose was running for most of the morning.  It was so annoying.  I think I went through at least 1/4 of a box of Kleenex.

So today was going to be the day that we finally got to try out our gym that we got a free 7 day pass.  We didn’t go the first day because of the power failure, and the next day because we had to run to the grocery store and Kimm’s doctor appointment and then I worked the next two days and then we went to visit her friend.  So see, today was going to be the day.  But who can go to the gym when your nose is constantly running???  Not to mention, Kimm woke up with her hamstrings killing her…she has no idea why.  But they hurt.  So home we stayed.  And now tomorrow is Mother’s Day–the gym is open but we are going to Kimm’s parents house and then I have to work again and then it is Monday…the day our 7 day pass expires.

So I guess we’ll have to make a decision based on the fact that we had a “good feeling” about the gym.  There were several things we liked: 1) it was not crowded at all (even at a supposedly busy time), 2) that it is 24 hour so that we can go whenever–even if it is busy, we can come another time, 3) all the treadmills have their own personal TV!, 4) the weight machines have this nifty thing where to change the weight all you have to do is flip a lever instead of moving a pin, 5) there is this other cool thing where you can plug in a flash drive to the treadmill or bike or elliptical and download your workout which you can then keep track of on your computer at home, 6) they have two spinning bikes with spinning classes on them, 7) it is VERY clean, 8) it is only about 2 minutes away from home, 9) the windows are darkened so that you can see out but no one can see in, and 10) private bathrooms…need I say more–when you want to go and need privacy 🙂

So we’ll probably join even without trying it out.  We’ve never tried out a gym before anyways.  And the cost is right–$32 a month, about a dollar a day.  Can’t do much better for your health.  Not to mention my health insurance covers some of that…not much, but some.

Kimm’s team lost tonight.  If they lose again on Monday, they are out of the playoffs.  I hope they win for her sake.

Now it’s time for popcorn and Gilmore Girls.

Quite a Drive…

Friday, May 7, 2010

Today, after I woke up, we went for a LONG drive (1 and 1/2 hours!) to see Kimm’s very good friend and her family that live in Connecticut.  She hasn’t seen her in over two years.

We had a great night.  Good pizza and good conversation.  We got to see her two little ones…one is 3 and the other is 4 months old…SUCH cuties 🙂  Really made us want to have a baby too!

Thankfully the drive back was quicker (only about an hour)–mostly because we had all yellow lights and there was a lot less traffic.

We have got to make plans soon again so it doesn’t get to be two years before we visit again.

In other good news…Frank will be coming to visit in early June!!  Wicked excited about this.  He is taking a seminar in Connecticut and will be staying with us.  I guess this is good incentive to get Izzy’s room all cleaned out so he can sleep there!

Heading to bed.  Tomorrow we hit the gym.
