Always learning…

One of the best things about working as a nurse is that you are always learning something new.

I got to start a cardizem drip last night for someone with atrial flutter with rapid ventricular response!  Even though I didn’t get to titrate it much, I did get to decide the starting rate.  It will all come with time.

I worked with a great ICU float nurse who helped me through the night, telling me all of her experiences of working as a travel nurse for many years and then working in ICU for many more years.  Listening to her made me so overwhelmed.  There’s just so much to learn.  But you ALWAYS have someone to help you, which I think is one of the best things about nursing.  You are never in it alone 🙂

It was a good night.  Here’s hoping that tonight will be just as good.

Off to bed for some shut-eye.
