How did groceries get to be so darn expensive??

Monday, April 5, 2010

I was asleep for most of the day as usual after working!

Our main activity for the night was to go grocery shopping.  We are trying something new this month.  Instead of just putting the groceries on debit and having a budget “in mind” (which we usually go over), we decided to withdraw our budget from the bank and put in an envelope to spend for the month.  That way, when the money is gone, no more food will be bought!  It’s so easy to spend more money when you are just swiping a card at the register instead of seeing REAL money being given away!

We’ll see how it works.  We spent about $100 today.  And we didn’t even get THAT much.  I swear, I’m already at the point where I can say, “I remember back in the day when *insert item* only cost *insert price*”  Fruits and vegetables cost an arm and a leg…$2.50 for about 10 cherry tomatoes!  Over $5 for a SMALL bag of walnuts.  Seriously!  You could go broke trying to feed yourself.

End of rant. Time for some popcorn, Gilmore Girls, and maybe a peanut butter egg 🙂

Happy Easter

**post-dated to Sunday, April 5, 2010

Yesterday was Easter and I can’t believe it was here and already gone!

We had a nice dinner over at Kimm’s parents house.  Yummy food as always…mashed potatoes, corn, cheesy broccoli casserole, crescent rolls, and for dessert angel food cake with pineapple fluffy frosting!

And of course, who could forget the CANDY!!!!  We have PLENTY of Reese’s peanut butter eggs, Twix, and peanut butter M & M’s to last us for quite a while 🙂

The only down side was that I had to go into work.  But it wasn’t a bad night at all.  I really like the floor I am on now.  Since I only had three patients, I got paid to study EKGs.  That’s always nice!
