Broken Glass

Friday, March 12, 2010

So last night, when we were watching Capitalism, I started to get REALLY sleepy.  So sleepy in fact that Kimm kept checking in on me, whether or not my eyes were closed or my head was bobbing 🙂  Finally I admitted I was ready for bed.  I just hate it though when I don’t want to feel tired and I get so exhausted.  I mean, really…I had slept until 4:30 pm and it was only midnight!

So we were starting to pick up all of our snack stuff and being the lazy fools we are, were trying to bring everything to the kitchen in one trip…even though the kitchen is less than 20 feet away!  Well…this involved me balancing the empty guacamole glass bowl on top of the hummus container.  All fine and dandy until I lean forward to get up and all of a sudden–the LOUDEST crash you’ve ever heard.  Next thing I know, I’m looking at our glass coffee table in quite a few pieces.  The glass guacamole bowl had gone right through the glass table.

So instead of going to bed right away, we had clean-up to do.  Picking up all the glass.  Attempting to vacuum up all the glass.  Being unable to get all the glass shards since the rug is shag.  Making the decision to get rid of the carpet since it is showing its age (looking more gray than white and also having been peed on by Izzy twice).

Good-bye glass table…now we definitely will have to look for a new coffee table!

Good-bye old rug–hopefully we’ll find something just as nice, but just not white so it won’t look so old so quick

In the interim…we are using these…not too bad…but not as nice as a coffee table

So the end of the story…after 1/2 an hour of cleaning everything up, we were able to get to bed–FINALLY.

And of course I didn’t sleep well last night.  Typical.

And I have to go to work tonight.  So I’m going to try to get a nap in after this post.  Even an hour would help.  Tonight is my last 12 hour for 2, possibly more, weeks.  I’m hoping, but not counting on, getting cancelled!!

And just for fun and giggles…here’s my latest breakfast go-to.  Am loving the oatmeal again and OMG…so good with the coconut and jam.

To make:  1/2 cup old-fashioned oatmeal, 1 cup water, pinch salt–microwave for 1:45 minutes…top with squirt of agave nectar, raisins, shredded coconut, peanut butter, and jam…YUMM!!

Doesn’t it look pretty…it don’t look as nice when it’s all stirred together!

Hope everyone has a great Friday night.
