WI: Day Five

***postdated for Tuesday, January 19, 2010

I should have known yesterday that I wouldn’t have a chance to post yesterday.  The reason:  I got to meet up with my best friend from high school…Michele P. 🙂

I was very happy.  Since I had such a short visit home I wasn’t sure if I would get a chance to see her.  It was close.  She had to work on Monday AND Tuesday.  But we were able to get together for lunch on Tuesday, and then for a drink on Tuesday night after she worked.

It was so great to re-connect!  We are so funny.  Every time after we talk again we always say, “THIS time we are REALLY going to stay in touch!”  And then we head back to our separate lives and we usually never talk again until the next time I come home!  Which is generally a year or more!  So I really need to make the effort this time to do this.  I miss talking with her.

For lunch we went to a little coffee shop called The Funky Bean. It was really cute and well priced.  I got an iced Italian soda (sparkling water mixed with syrup…in my case it was cherry–it was SO good).  Plus a veggie wrap with herb mayo, black beans, corn, red peppers, corn, and spring veggie mix, in a basil tomato wrap.  And I also got a lemon bar–so reminds me of my childhood 🙂

I helped my dad pick out some new eye glass frames during the afternoon.  That was an adventure.  Every time my mom or I told him to try on a pair he would say, “Yeah, these are the ones I want.”  But I think we FINALLY found something he really liked.

For dinner we made homemade pizza and had a salad.  Yummy as usual.  After dinner I got to go see Eric play some basketball at his practice.  It was so cute to watch him dribble and shoot the ball.  He looked tired though.  He was the quietest of all the kids.

And then like I said I waited for Michele.  She got off work an hour early and so dropped by the house to visit with my parents and we got some pictures 🙂  Then off we went.  And we were out for quite a while!  I didn’t get home until 2 am!  I laughed SO hard.  It was nice to just catch up on so many things.

And now today is the day I go back.  I tell you, the time FLIES by.  I need to get in the shower and finish packing!
