1Year Later…365 Posts of Memories

Thursday, December 31, 2009

Last year at this time I told myself I wanted to try to do a blog post every day for a year.  And here I sit this morning, on the last day of the year, knowing that I have accomplished this task.  It wasn’t easy some days.  Especially those days when I was working three 12 hour days in a row.  Or days when I didn’t get home til real late (I think I may have post-dated a few of those!).  Or days that I didn’t have much to post about.  But they are all there…

And now I have this wonderful year of memories that I can read through any time I want to…with lots of pictures…of the house, of the food I ate, of Charlie and Madeline, and Izzy and Kimm.

I’m glad I did it and I want to keep doing it.  Hopefully I’ll be able to have more posts with pictures, since those are my most favorite, but of course the most work 🙂

Since I’ll be working tonight I wish everyone in blog land a Happy New Year!

Izzy’s Rudolph

Wednesday, December 30, 2009

Grandma Cloutier bought Izzy a new toy!

Meet Rudolph…

And FINALLY Izzy likes it 🙂

We have a very strange dog.  All of the toys we’ve bought her so far, she won’t play with.  She just leaves them lay on the floor.  But she took to Rudolph right away, and started carrying him around and licking him!  It was so darn cute.

Picture perfect!

Having fun…

Snuggling up together 🙂

Off to work I go again.

It was pretty darn cold here today.  The temp got below zero with the wind chill factor.  And boy did we feel it on Izzy’s walk–her abbreviated walk that is!  It was so cold that my breath kept my glasses fogged the entire time I walked…which didn’t make for very easy walking.

We pretty much stuck around the house today just to stay warm.  It was a nice relaxing day.  I played WAY too much Farmville, Petville, Yoville and Fishville.  Are you sensing a theme here?  I’m thinking that one of my New Year’s Resolutions should be to limit the amount of time I spend on these games!  It’s a nice diversion though.

It’s back to work tomorrow.  And then when I’m done with the next two nights, it will already be the new year.  Yikes.

A Day to Recuperate

Monday, December 28, 2009

Yep, that’s what today is.  After working three days after the holiday, I need it.

I woke up today with my legs sore (all that walking at work), my stomach aching (all those rich Christmas treats), and my nose stuffy ( I think I may be getting sick)!

So I figured a day (or half day…however you look at it) for some R & R would be perfect.

So all I’ve done is eat dinner, read, and go on the computer.

I’ve had A LOT OF FUN just doing nothing 🙂

Tomorrow is a different story.  Lots to get done!

The Curse

Sunday, December 27, 2009

I figure I must have a curse on me or something since the last two nights at work have been horrible.  In the sense that they have been non-stop busy.  I’ve felt so frustrated and annoyed because I’ve gotten out late both nights.  Not to mention I’ve had to float both nights–never fun.

I’m desperately looking forward to my two nights off after my last night on tonight.

Really nothing else to say except that it’s raining–very mild weather which is melting all of snow.

Can’t wait to climb into bed!

And then it was over…

Saturday, December 26, 2009

After so much anticipation and build-up, Christmas 2009 is done in the blink of an eye.

Back to the grind.  Which includes working this weekend.

It didn’t start out that great last night with almost everyone needing pain med or anti-nausea med.

I think I’ve become callous.  I don’t have a lot of feeling left for my patients.  I don’t like that.

Maybe it’s the lack of sleep and irritation that I didn’t get cancelled for my entire shift last night that is causing my state of mind??

The only thing that is pushing me onward is the fact that tonight HAS got to be better than last night!

Now off to bed before I make any more typos!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night…

Friday, December 25, 2009

It was a wonderful Christmas.

Yeah, there was the gifts and all, and that made it nice, but the best part was spending time with Kimm and her family and talking to my parents on the phone.  Family…loved ones.  That’s what the true meaning of Christmas is for me.

Happily, I did get cancelled for the first four hours of my shift, but unfortunately still have to go in at 11 pm.  I REALLY wish I had been cancelled for the entire shift.  I’m exhausted.

But it is not to be.  This is a reminder to me that NEXT year I shall be more organized so I can be more well rested before Christmas so I’m not too tired when I have to work!

Hope everyone had a merry, blessed Christmas 🙂

Merry Christmas Eve!

Thursday, December 24, 2009

I still can’t believe that it’s Christmas Eve (well, technically Christmas because I’m so late at posting this!)

Thankfully everything that needed to get accomplished today, did–with a little time leftover for fun.

The cookie/candy platters were put together and delivered…

The wrapping got done…

The get together with Kimm’s brother was great–The Santa Clause 2 and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, plus Chinese food and some Christmas cookies and candy…

Now there are two very tired girls who need to hit the sack so that Santa can come tonight 🙂

Baked Out!

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

I REALLY need to learn not to procrastinate.

Let me just tell you, it’s not fun to do ALL of your Christmas candy/cookie making in one day.

But I got quite a bit done…

The dining room table is full of stuff!

This is what we made:

* Chocolate dipped peanut clusters

* Chocolate and white chocolate dipped pretzels

* Peanut M & M bars

* Raspberry Coconut Thumbprint cookies

* Coconut Graham bars

* Peanut butter fudge

* Chocolate and white chocolate dipped Oreo balls

Now that I type it out, it doesn’t seem like much.  But I was in the kitchen from 2 pm to 10 pm with only a break to eat dinner.  And there were LOTS of dishes.

I’m so tired now that I can’t post any pictures.  Hopefully I’ll get a chance to post pictures tomorrow.

Now tomorrow all we have to do is make out plates to deliver to our neighbors and to Kimm’s parents.  We’ll also leave some for us!

Also, tomorrow I attack wrapping! (see what I mean about the procrastination!!)

Making a List, and Checking it Twice!

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

My baking list that is!  Tomorrow afternoon I’m dedicating to Christmas baking so I need to make sure I have everything I need.  I can’t wait to start baking 🙂

Several things…

First of all, last night at work SUCKED.  I got TWO admissions, and the second one was at about 5 am.  So I ended up having to stay late getting everything done.  Didn’t get out until 8:15 am and I was not happy because they are not paying me for that extra time.  I ended up taking two admissions because the charge nurse said she had a difficult assignment and wouldn’t be able to take another one and that made me next in line.  It was just a very busy night.  I only took a 10 minute break to call Kimm and other than that it was non-stop all night long.  The only thing that got me through was knowing that it was for only one night.

Next…Kimm is feeling MUCH better.  We finally found her a cold medicine that actually works and doesn’t make her hyper!!  It’s called Contac in case you are interested.

Today we went out looking at Christmas lights.  It felt like a very old-fashioned thing to do.  I have to say, I was kind of disappointed with the lack of people doing outside lights this year.  Maybe it is the cost of the electric bill.  We drove by some expensive houses and of course they were beautiful but all we said was, “Damn rich people!”  Believe me, it was pure jealousy 🙂

We had stopped to get Peppermint Mocha Lattes from Dunkin’ Donuts on the way.  Let me just say that I don’t think I’m really a latte person.  The latte was way too bitter for me.  I had to save it and “doctor” it up once I got home!

Not much else going on.  But can you believe that Christmas is in only THREE days!
