Check, Check, Check, Check, Check, and Check!

I am STILL finding it difficult to type the month September out instead of August.  Seriously, where has the time gone?  I feel like this year has just slipped by.  By the way, Kimm and I are coming up on our 9th (!) month in the new house.  The last new season in the new house as well since we moved in when it was winter.  I think after we’ve been here for a year I won’t be able to call it our new house anymore 😦

I have to admit I had ANOTHER mini-nap tonight.  I blame Charlie.  He totally didn’t let Kimm and I sleep a full nights sleeps last night.  He is getting to be even worse than Madeline.

But even so, I feel accomplished today.  I got a lot done off of my “to do” list and therefore was able to check a few things off 🙂

First, I made an appointment for my haircut on Saturday morning at 9 am (check!).  Unfortunately this was the only time that my hairdresser had for this week–it that means I’ll be working all night, come home and then have to go to get my haircut.  If my hair wasn’t driving me crazy already, I would have put it off.  But I had already put it off so much.   Why do I continue to do this?

Second, I called and made an appointment for the electrical contractor that we met at the Home Show way back when (May??) to come and give an estimate for putting heat in the second floor and possibly a new furnace and central air (check!).  I was meaning of course to do this earlier, but then just forgot, but now with the cold weather, I need to get my butt in gear.  Thankfully he was able to book us in for tomorrow!  So we’ll know the news soon enough.  I’m guessing $10,000 as the high end, and hopefully as low as $7,000.  Oh why do home repairs need to be so costly?

I also finalized plans on getting together with a friend that I have meant to see all summer (check!).    Sometimes I feel like such a bad friend.   I find it hard sometimes to find time to do everything.  I think I will have to try to be more organized in order to fit everything in.

Kimm and I did the second part of our grocery shopping this afternoon (check!).  We did some LOCAL shopping first at a farm stand.  Spent about $15 on some tomatoes, plums, peppers, zucchini, and cucumbers.  We had the cucumbers in our salad tonight–excellent–and the plums for dessert.  I forgot how much I really LOVE plums.  I will have to get more ASAP.  The remainder of our shopping we did at Stop and Shop.  We did pretty good.  Spent under $100 and not all of it was on food, a good portion of household items.  And I have meals planned out for at least 15 days (whoo, whoo!).  So hopefully we’ll still be able to make our budget this month.  I didn’t add everything up tonight because I’m too darn tired.  But don’t worry, there will be a monthly recap.

And we returned a GOOD portion of cans/bottles at the distribution center today (check!).  This has been on our list for-ever…  Can you believe we made about $24 dollars?  I told you we had a lot of cans.

AND…we also made a run to the library (check!).  We both had books due and I had one to pick up–Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life by Barbara Kingsolver.  I’m very interested to read this one–a woman and her family vow to only eat food they grow themselves or that was raised in their own neighborhood.  Supposed to be very good, and I’m hoping very inspiring for me.

Okay, that’s enough checked off my list for today.  I’m off to play a few board games with Kimm.  It’s back to work tomorrow night.  But thankfully only for ONE night 🙂
