I was pretty tired today after working my two days in a row.  When I got home though I still, somehow, found the time to catch up on some blogs 🙂  But I was in bed by 9:30 am.

The plan was to get up at 2:30 so that Kimm and I could have a good portion of the day to spend together.

However, what really happened…

My alarm went off at 2:30 pm.  I was wicked tired.  I set the alarm for another 1/2 hour.  But alas, I forgot to move the hour portion up one hour and when I eventually woke up, at 4:15 pm (!) I saw that I had set the alarm for 2 pm.  So I slept in a good portion of the day.

So you would think that I would be well rested.

Yes, that’s what you would think.  But I was not.

We ate some leftovers around 5 pm and then I got majorly sleepy eyes.  I felt like I could hardly keep my eyes open.  But we had plans to go grocery shopping.

But I was feeling so lazy.  I kept saying to myself…”we could do this tomorrow” and “it would be so nice to just relax at home tonight.”

But thankfully, somehow, we managed to drag our lazy bones out to the car and do our shopping.

It only took us a little over an hour.  This month we have a goal to try to spend no more than $400 dollars on food.

Now you would think that would be easy, with us being only two people.  But it’s more difficult that you would think.

We even planned out all of our meals and snacks before going.  But we still ended up spending about $95.

We spent about 1/2 of our budget on fruits and veggies alone!  And then the veggie burgers and fake chicken patties were another $10.  Then there’s always the staples…milk, bread, cream.  We had run out of coffee.  We needed a certain spice for a recipe.  And we splurged on some ice cream (it WAS on sale!).  But it all adds up.

I think I will have to do some creative cooking to try to make this food last for 10 days if possible.  That way we would only have to go shopping 3 times and hopefully spend closer to $300.

We are looking at this as a CHALLENGE 🙂

I’ll let you know how we do when the month ends.

As for now, I need to rest my eyes for “just a second.”  I feel like I am half asleep even though I am typing.  Bed is looking mighty fine about now!
