The One with the Resolutions…(Post date to Jan 2nd)

Monday, January 5, 2009, approximately 4:15 pm

Every year I try to make a list of resolutions.  I find that it helps to focus my efforts during the year with areas that I want to change for the better.  For example, last year one of my resolutions was to pay off more of my debt.  And I made terrific progress.  I have all of my debt paid off except for one credit card (which has a low interest rate) and my school loan (again with a low interest rate).  Paying off my three other credit cards helped me to realize one of my biggest dreams, which was to purchase a home.  So, I’m hoping to be as good with my resolutions this year.

So here are my resolutions:

1) To blog every day during 2009

2) To pay off at least half of my remaining credit card (and all if possible)–the only reason I’m not going to say all as the only resolution is because I know there will be many expenses during the year for the house that I won’t be able to anticipate and I don’t want to set myself up for failure.  I definitely hope to get this remaining credit card paid off within 2 years.

3) To keep track of all the books I read throughout the year (in an Excel program) and to share on my blog what I read.

4) To eat more healthy (doesn’t this one show up on EVERYONE’S list!)

5) To try one new recipe per week in order to expand my culinary skills and the meals that we eat

6) To expand my music repertoire–for those of you who know me, I don’t listen to that much music, but I always WANT to, I just don’t know what to listen to.  I’m going to utilize iTunes and listen to new music and also to the music that Kimm and her brother have (since they have a TON of cds).

7) To start playing the clarinet again.  Now that I’m in a house where I don’t have to worry about bothering neighbors, I want to see if I can still play.  And in relation to that, I think I want to learn how to play the guitar (Kimm has one so I won’t have to buy one).

8) To keep track of all our house improvements.

9) To build up a bar in our house with different liquors (one per month) and hopefully to learn at least one new drink per month as well.  This is something that Kimm and I were hoping to do together and I think it will be fun!

10) Last, but not least, I want to start looking into having a baby.  Kimm and I wanted to be in a house before we started to think of this and I know it won’t happen in a year.  But hopefully within two years (or at least before I am 40!)  So I will be looking into artificial insemination…fun, fun.

So that’s it.  My ten resolutions.  I’ll look back on this list many times during the year I’m sure to see where I am and when I need to be more focused.  Hoping everyone had fun making a  list of resolutions!
